Commercial & Theatrical Actor Headshots

Helping you catch the eye of decision-makers.

My goal as a headshot photographer is to help my customers move ahead in their careers. It’s important to me that each person I photograph gets the right photographs for them.

I’m here to lead you through your shoot offering the direction you need at each step: setting the criteria for your shoot, selecting your wardrobe, and projecting your personality and charm with just the right mix of confidence and approachability to make your best first impression.

You’re not in this alone.

One thing I do that is unique in the SF Bay Area is that I help my clients select their final images. I offer my expertise as a photographer to help you make well-informed decisions about your headshots.

Editing photos is the hardest part of a photo shoot. I’ve been doing it for 35 years and am very good at it. Working together, we can narrow your choices from 50+ good photos to the 8-12 best of the best in about 20 minutes.

A charming man's business portrait.

Dean’s quality work coupled with quick turnaround times and constant communication makes him a professional. Added bonuses include his affable nature and how fun he actually is to work with!

It was great working with Dean. He is very thorough and spent a lot of time on small details. I highly recommend getting your pictures taken with Dean!

Wonderful photographer. Found him through another working actor. Studio equipment is better than some other studios I have been to. Dean is amazing, he can make dirt look like a diamond. He has the running mind of an artist, if that doesn’t convince you I don’t know what will. I came for working professional headshots and that is exactly what I got.

You may ask “why do I need a professional headshot ?”

Often your LinkedIn headshot makes your first impression on the decision-makers influencing your success. Good business portraits help you build trust by showing people that you care enough to make your best showing. Bad headshots will undermine your credibility.

Your business headshot is as important as your handshake in today’s world.

In today’s online world, where you may never meet your customers, collaborators, and contractors in person, your headshots have replaced the power of yesterday’s handshake.

To make a good first impression on our professional associates here in the United States, we learn to look people squarely in the eye, reach out to them assertively and shake their hands with a firm grip when we first meet them. By addressing others with confidence and respect while communicating our honorable intentions we leave a powerful, positive impression.

Every picture tells a story.

Today many of our first interactions with the decision-makers we need to influence are online, which means that your headshots play a major role in creating others’ first impressions of you. Studies show that people form first impressions about us the first time they see us, whether in person or a photograph.

Scanning through LinkedIn, you’ll see a host of bad photos people use in place of a headshot. You’ll also see a lot of bathroom selfies or snapshots with people cropped out of the frame. Sometimes the person is so tiny you can’t even see them.

Photographs like these don’t communicate the strength of character, drive, and commitment needed to advance your career. Instead, they display carelessness, lack of professionalism, and low self-esteem.

These days, meaningful professional relationships typically begin through online contact. That means it’s more important than ever that your online photographs reflect the traits that others seek out in business professionals: successful, trustworthy, and with high self-esteem – just like your handshake. A great headshot showing you as a confident and approachable professional creates the first impression you want and need.

So, leave the bathroom selfie and vacation snapshots on Instagram. Use an exceptional headshot created by a professional who works with you to make you look your best. You will feel greater confidence knowing that your professional head shots are making your best first impression on everyone who sees them.

How I Work: The Three-Step Model

1. Pre Production: We’ll talk over the phone so I can learn where you are in your career, where you’re going, and how I can help you get there.

2. Production: I only work with one person per day. We’ll have all the time we need to get the most out of your shoot.
We start your headshot session by selecting your wardrobe and collaborating on the tone and content of your photographs.
I’ll give you the direction you need to give your best performance for the camera.

3. Post Production: At the end of your shoot, you’ll pick the photos you want from a shortlist we create together.
About a week later, I’ll send you a link to download your finished photos.

I make the time to help my clients select their headshots.

Due to information overload, selecting photos is the hardest part of any photo shoot. I’ve been doing it for 35 years and am very good at it.

You’re in control.
I’ll offer my unbiased opinion and professional interpretation of any photo if you want.

Working together, we can narrow your choices from 50+/- great headshots to the 8-12 absolute best in about 15-20 minutes.
