Personal Project: Art Appreciation

A woman engrossed by a Mark Rothko painting in SF MOMA

The best part of being a photographer is thinking creatively. I captured this image in SF MOMA back in 2017. It’s titled “Art Appreciation.”

I was intrigued by how the woman was so enthralled with the Rothko that she stood frozen before it for many minutes as I walked across the room and framed my shot. She never moved a muscle.

I love the image, and despite it being taken with an iPhone, I’ve included it in my creative portfolio ever since. I wish I had the camera I use for my headshots with that day, but you have to work with the tools you have.
